Two people are under arrest after a dispute involving a child in Queens.
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department told AsAmNews 18-year-old Yuxi Chen is accused of grabbing a 7-year-old boy by the arm and dragging him from the jungle gym to the water fountain. The boy had apparently been splashing water near Chen.
Chen upset the boy’s father, 29-year old Tyrell Davis. Authorities say a dispute followed with Davis striking Chen in the left eye, causing an abrasion, as well as swelling and redness.
Chen has been arrested and charged with child endangerment. Police also arrested Davis and charged him with assault.
It happened Saturday at 5:40 pm at Marie Curie Park on 221st Street and 46th Avenue.
“This is totally unacceptable,” said Yi Chen on Twitter. “One of my friend’s kid just got assaulted by a 250-300 pound adult at the park while playing basketball. Punching him nonstop till he drop to the ground, cause him bleeding, unconscious, eyes bleed out-got send to hospital
Chen says his friend got called “China virus,” and then “punched him till he unconscious.”
Police say they have no information Chen was knocked unconscious or if he was hospitalized. They also say there’s nothing in the police report about Chen being called the “China virus.”
