Hoping to drum up excitement for the new live action version of Mulan, Disney released its latest promotional trailer Wednesday.
The remake will premier at a premium price of 29.99 on Disney Plus September 4.
Many fans have balked at what they consider too high of a price to pay to see a movie. You also have to subscribe to the streaming service to gain access to the film.
The decision to premier the move on digital comes after several delays. It had been scheduled to be released in theaters in March, but the pandemic shut down theaters around the world.
Disney then announced the movie would premier sometime this summer, but that proved overly optimistic.
Not knowing when theaters will begin to reopen again, the studio made the decision to release it exclusively on Disney Plus. If successful, expect other studios to follow similar strategies.
