Hoping to make strong inroads into what has been traditionally a Republican voting bloc, Democrats have bought ads on Vietnamese television targeting 780,000 Vietnamese Americans living in California.
The Hill reports the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee bought advertising scheduled to begin airing in September on VietFace TV, a Vietnamese language station in Los Angeles.
“The top priorities for AAPI voters – affordable health care, rebuilding an economy that works for all, and education are all at stake in this election, and we are going to communicate to them in-language, online, in print, and now on ethnic TV outlets to leave no voter behind, said Darwin Pham of the DCCC to the Hill.
The Yappie reports the DCCC will spend $45,000 on the buy. The political newsletter also says the DCCC had recently aired its first ever Chinese and Hindi ads in Texas.
Democrats are hoping to flip the Senate blue and to increase its control of the House in 2020. The results of the midterm election give them confidence which saw Democrats flipping 41 house seats. There are currently 232 Democrats in the House to 198 Republicans.
In the Senate, there are 53 Republicans and 45 Democrats along with two independents who lean Democrat.
