BTS breaks YouTube record with new all-English single

The BTS Army has done it and so has the KPop sensation.

The boy band set a single day record for views on YouTube within the first 24 hours of its release of its new single Dynamite, reports Variety.

BTS released it at 12 a.m. August 21 and it hit 98 million views by the end of the day, just short of 100 million. That surpassed the previous record held by Blackpink which had 86.3 million for its hit How You Like It.

Entertainment Weekly reports Dynamite is the group’s first all-English single.

“We’re going through difficult times so we tried to have more fun working on this song,” RM told Entertainment Weekly during a news conference. “We made this song in hopes of giving energy to the listeners. We’re glad this song turned out great and hope a lot of our fans can listen to it to receive the positive energy we tried to incorporate in the song.”

According to Deadline, almost four million fans tuned in live to watch the single drop.

BTS will perform Dynamite live for the first time during the MTV Video Music Awards on August 30.
