The first Marvel movie to feature an Asian American superhero in a lead role has wrapped up shooting.
Star Simu Liu of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings celebrated the occasion on Instagram saying “We made a baby. We can’t wait to introduce him to the world in 9 months.”
Director Destin Daniel Cretton took the more direct approach. WE.ARE.WRAPPED, he also said on Instagram.
Sources tell AsAmNews the crew this week completed shoots in San Francisco. Local media reported that speculation was rampant that the filming involved the Shang-Chi movie, but sources with the city and with direct knowledge of the production confirmed to AsAmNews that’s exactly what it was.
The director was just like on TV, had his megaphone he was like action! Ya know!” said Mat Bess to ABC7 News.
Bess staked out a good vantage point and recorded with his own camera a bus smashing into parked cars for the production.
The movie is currently set for release on July 9, 2021.
