A special episode of the Nickelodeon show Blue Clue and You will share the Filipino culture today of host Joshua DeLa Cruz.
The Manila Bulletin reports DeLa Cruz will introduce his grandma, or Lola, as played by Caroline Fe.
“I did the audition and that’s when I realized ‘Oh my god! We’re doing the Filipino flip here,’ and ‘wow.’ All I can say was just, it blew my mind that we are going to be represented in the biggest way. I mean this is huge,” said Fe to the Bulletin.
She say Filipino culture will be introduced to a new generation of viewers.
Vice reports Lola and Dela Cruz will make the Filipino rice cake, bibingka on the program. The episode is generating excitement among Pinoys and fans of Blues Clue.
“We have an entire generation of American kids being exposed to a Filipino dude on TV, doing the ‘Mano po’ to his Lola, & making bibingka. My kids are seeing their lives on TV,” said author E.J. Ramos David, according to Vice.
Fe says the episode will pay tribute to grandmas everywhere.
“Lolas are the coolest people in the world. Lolas have a lot of stories to tell. Go hug your Lolas today,” she said.
