A man in Portland, Oregon faces two counts of first degree bias crime in the assault on an Asian American woman on a public bus.
Authorities say Peter Eschright kicked a woman in the shin as he walked by her and yelled racial slurs, according to KATU. Deputies also accuse the suspect of making remarks related to the coronavirus and the woman’s race and skin color.
Fox 12 reports the woman had trouble walking after the incident, but did not require medical treatment.
Authorities released the suspect to the Multnomah County Pretrial Release Services.
