New Haven Police have named 29-year-old Qinxuan Pan as a person of interest in the shooting death of Yale graduate student Kevin Jiang, NBC Connecticut reports.
Jiang was a graduate student at the Yale School of Environment and was set to graduate next year. He was shot to death on Lawrence Street Saturday night. Police believe he was operating a vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Pan, the person of interest in the case, is a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, according to CBS New York. Police say he was last seen at the Best Western at 201 Washington Ave. in North Haven. He should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the police.
Police say the shooting was not random, but would not say whether the two men know each other. They are looking into whether or not Jiang was targeted, according to NBC Connecticut. The shooting could also have been the end result of a road rage incident.
Anyone with information on Pan is asked to call New Haven police at 203-946-6304 or the anonymous tip line at 1-866-888-8477 (TIPS).
