The movie adaptation of the cartoon classic Tom & Jerry debuts Friday February 26.
It features actress Pallavi Sharda, who plays Preeta, a
bride-to-be planning her wedding in the best hotel in New York City.
She and her fiancé are planning for a smooth wedding (until Tom and
Jerry come and spin things out of control).
The movie combines live action with CGI and puts the 2D characters in a 3D environment.
“It was important to have the animated characters be in 2D because the classic cartoons were in 2D,” said director Tim Story to Screen Rant. We could actually have them look exactly like they always did but at the same time live in a 3D world. We thought it was the best way to give homage to what the cartoons have always been.”
In addition to Sharda, it will feature Ken Jeong, Chloe’ Grace Moretz, Colin Jost, Michael Pena and Rob Delaney.
In the movie, Tom fails in his job as a house cat and gets kicked out by his owners. He suddenly finds himself homeless with long time rival Jerry. The cat and mouse duo are left wandering in the streets and
decide to call a truce to their rivalry before going their separate ways to
have a fresh start in their lives.
The two reunite at the Royal Gate Hotel where Jerry has found a home. The two cause chaos and threaten the “wedding of the century.”
