The Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve New York named Indian American Naureen Hassan its new Chief Operating Office and Vice President.
The Federal Reserve Bank is the government entity that regulates the financial industry and implement monetary policy including setting interest rates.
Hassan brings to the job nearly 20 years in the financial services industry. She comes over from Morgan Stanley where she served as chief digital officer of wealth management for four years.
She has also been a executive vice president of investor services and vice president of corporate strategy at Charles Schwab.
“Naureen’s leadership experience and operational expertise are fully aligned with what the search committee and I envisioned for this role,” said Denise Scott, chair of the New York Fed’s board of directors, in a statement. “Together with the board of directors, I am delighted that Naureen will be taking on this role that is critical to advancing the Bank’s mission and strategic priorities.”
According to Siasat, Hassan also serves on the board of directors of California Academy of Science and the Cathedral School for Boys in San Francisco.
