2,000 attend Black Asian Lives Matter rally in New York

Pictorial Essay by Esther Yang, AsAmNews Staff Writer

A massive crowd of 2,000 people gathered Sunday morning for a rally dubbed Black and Asian Solidarity.

Filmmaker Coffey organized the event in New York with the help of various running groups.

This is one of many similar events organized around the country. A 5K run will follow the rally.

Similar events took place Saturday in Boston and Atlanta and another is taking place today in San Francisco’s Japantown. The hashtags #StopAsianHateRun and #RunforJustice are being used in connection to these events.

All the rallies and runs are in response to the Atlanta spa shootings which left eight people dead, including six Asian women.

At the rally in New York, the crowd chanted “Asian Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter.”

People young and old attended this rally including these two youngsters.
