A 25 year old Asian woman was seated outside an ice cream shop on Grand Street near Chinatown in Manhattan. She was chatting with a friend when the perpetrator approached them at around 7:36PM local time.
The perpetrator screamed, “I don’t want you talking! Shut the f— up! Go back to where you came from! Go back to your country!” police said, according to a NY Daily News report.
Surveillance footage shows the perpetrator made move to leave before turning back to slap the victim in the face, reports Patch. The attacker then fled the scene. The victim declined medical attention.
Police released video surveillance footage on Thursday in hopes of finding the suspect. The attacker has been described as around 35 years old, 5 foot 5 and 180 pounds with short black hair.
