New York Police hope the public can help them identify a bicyclist who stabbed an Asian American in the back as he was cycling by.
Authorities say the attack appears to be random, but ABC7 News reports they are not yet treating it as a hate crime.
Surveillance video shows the attacker with his knife in his right hand. As he cycles past, you can see him thrusting the knife into the victim’s back, reported NBC NY.
The victim does not appear to be seriously hurt and was able to get back up and point out the attacker to others as the cyclists got away.
The 53 year old works at a local Chinese restaurant and asked not to be named. He is expected to recover, reported the New York Daily News.
The brazen nature of the attack stunned those in the Brooklyn neighborhood.
“I’m very scared because it happened in broad daylight,” said a young woman.
