Voting is Justice AAPI Rally in Chinatown, NYC

Yesterday, the AAPI Democracy Project held a Voting is Justice AAPI Rally in Chinatown, New York City.

The rally was held to encourage voter turnout in the upcoming NYC election to bring justice to the AAPI community. The event also celebrated the unveiling of the beautiful mural by muralist Kent Yoshimura commissioned by ADP to commemorate victims of Anti-Asian hate crimes.

Over 20 speakers took the stage at the rally. Senator Chuck Schumer and Congresswoman Grace Meng, two Congress members vital in passing the Anti-Asian Hate Crime Bill, were the keynote speakers. Other speakers included mayoral candidates Andrew Yang, Maya Wiley and Kathryn Garcia. Senator John Liu, Reshma Patel, and Hakeem Jefferies among others attended the event.

The speakers spoke condemned the recent rise in anti-Asian hate crime and anti-Asian sentiments. They encouraged the crowd to vote for the right candidate.
