Team USA Olympian Suni Lee expresses gratitude to fans

Gymnast Suni Lee, along with her family, expressed thanks to all the fans for their outpouring of love and support.

“Hi, everyone. Thank you so much for your messages,” said Lee in a video message on Facebook. “I’m so sorry I can’t respond to all of them, but I’m so thankful for all your support.”

The message came just a few days before family and friends gave Suni a send off party to Tokyo. Unfortunately, Suni could not attend the celebration because of an intensive training schedule and the need to avoid large groups of people due to the pandemic.

Her family will not be able to accompany her on the trip as visitors to Japan are being restricted .

They are still in disbelief that she will be the first Hmong American to represent Team USA in the Olympics, reported Fox9.

“When she does her routine, I usually hold my breath. I really don’t like to watch it,” said mom Yeev Thoj.

“I knew that she had something special…I always push her to do her best, but we didn’t expect that she would actually do it,” said her dad, John Lee.
