NBA prospect and Filipino American Jalen Green is expected to be a top 3 NBA draft pick at the end of this month. CBS projects him to be the second draft choice on July 29. His salary could range anywhere between $5.9 million to $8.9 million in his first year, according to Spotrac.
Green last year chose not to go to college and instead joined the NBA’s elite development league, Ignite, until he became old enough to get drafted.
The 19 year old grew up in Fresno, CA where he played high school ball for three years before transferring to Prolific Prep in Napa for his senior year. There he averaged 31.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds and and five assists, according to the Oklahoman.
His mom’s side of the family is from the Philippines. He is described as the draft’s “most explosive scorer.”
“He dunks with incredible power, is crafty near the rim, creates space in the midrange and has a nice 3-point stroke that should only get better,” the Oklahoman reported.
NBA Draftnet grades Green with a score of 99.
