A TikTok showing a man smashing a sign blaming China for COVID-19 has gone viral, The Daily Mail reports.
The sign was located in Glen Waverley, a suburb outside of Melbourne Australia. The top of the sign read “Made in China.” An arrow pointed from the message “Made in China” to the misspelled “Co-vid 19,” implying that China created COVID-19.
“A friend told me someone posted a sign insulting Chinese people — saying coronavirus is from China,” the man in the video said in Chinese. “We have to remove it.”
He then uses an electric saw to cut the sign into pieces and a hammer to bring the rest of it down.
The TikTok video also says Australia has done little to stop the rise in anti-Asian hate since the onset of the pandemic.
