An Asian American family in Memphis say its had bricks thrown at their home, but they’ve never seen anything like this before.
This time someone not only threw a brick at the home, but scrawled “ch*nks go home” on their garage, reports Fox13.
“It’s scary because my kid was inside, and it’s wrong,” the resident said who asked not to be identified.
The family has lived at the home for 20 years. Several bricks have been thrown, but never accompanied by racist graffiti, until now.
Several neighbors have offered their support.
“They drive by, and they say we’re sorry about this,” he told FOX13.
In a statement sent to AsAmNews, the Council on American- Islamic Relations condemned the racism.
“Anti-Asian attacks – and the hate rhetoric that inevitably leads to such attacks – must be condemned by all Americans and by our nation’s leaders,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “We call on law enforcement to launch a hate crime investigation into this attack and crack down on the rising tide of bias-motivated crime.”
The family has no plans to move.
