It has never happened in 75 years of NBA history until Thursday night.
Rookie Jalen Green and 8-year veteran Jordan Clarkson became the first Filipino Americans to play in the same NBA game, reported KSLsports.com.
Green plays for the Houston Rockets and Clarkson is with the Utah Jazz.
The Rockets marked the occasion by declaring it Filipino Heritage Night, according to Deseret News.
The night didn’t go unnoticed to Clarkson who posted about it on Facebook.
“History made,” he declared.
Clarkson is the reigning sixth man of the year and scored 16 points in 24 minutes of play. Green started the game and ended the game with 13 points in a 122 – 91 loss.
“They love basketball,” Clarkson said of Filipinos to Deserte News. “Just us two being here is super inspirational for the youth and every Filipino-American, every Filipino, anybody with Filipino blood. I feel like it’s just an amazing experience, something that can’t be done again because (it was) the first. Hopefully we see more.”
