Suni Lee was eliminated from “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday night, The Star Tribune reports.
Lee and her dancer partner Sasha Farber were one of two couples eliminated. Melora Hardin, an actress best known for starring in “The Office,” was also sent home.
The Olympic gold medalist started tentatively on the show but has improved every week, USA Today reports. The judges declared last week’s dance her “breakthrough” moment.
On Monday night, Lee and Farber danced the foxtrot to Michael Buble’s “Haven’t Met You Yet,” earning a score of 37 out of 40. Their second dance was contemporary dance to Sara Bareilles’ “Gravity.” The pair scored a 38 out of 40.
Ultimately, the judges chose to save Amanda Kloots and her partner over Lee and Farber.
“It definitely sucks,” Lee told Us Magazine and other reporters on Monday. “I feel like I really had a breakthrough these past couple of weeks and I had my best two dances tonight.”
Throughout Monday night’s episode, Lee spoke about the pressure she felt at the Olympics. She said “Dancing with the Stars” taught her to love herself.
