Actor Dwayne the Rock Johnson posted a heartwarming video of a surprise he gave a navy veteran on Instagram Wednesday.
Johnson hosted a free screening of his latest movie Red Notice. Among those in the invited audience was Oscar Rodriguez.
The unannounced appearance of Johnson at the theatre is just one of several surprises he pulled.
He called Rodriguez down from his seat to the front of the theatre saying he wanted to recognize a special guest.
“There’s a dude here with a special story. I’m real impressed with his story,” Johnson told the crowd.
“Your story really moved me because I hear you’re a personal trainer, you’re always keeping it positive, motivational, and optimistic,” said Johnson. “You’re a leader in your church. You support and make meals for women who’ve been victimized by domestic violence. That’ really amazing work. You take care of your mom who’s 75.”
Rodriguez appeared quite moved and surprised by the recognition.
“This is such a blessing. I feel so encouraged right now, so uplifted. You’re the man, dude,” he said.
After the movie, Johnson met Rodriguez outside and took him to his custom-made truck. The actor then handed Rodriguez a note which he read out loud.
“Thank you for your service, brother. Enjoy your new truck.”
Rodriguez went down on his knees and began crying. “What the heck is happening,” he exclaimed. He then got up and gave the Rock a huge hug.
You can see the whole thing unfold on Instagram.
Johnson explained he had originally wanted to give Rodriguez the Porsche he drove in Red Notice, but when Porsche turned him down, he decided to give Rodriguez his truck.
