Husband arrested for death of wife in an alleged cover-up

Police in Houston arrested a husband for killing his wife two days after taking out a $250,000 life insurance policy, reports ABC13.

Authorities say Christopher Collins tried to cover up the murder telling police his wife had texted him about an intruder in the home.

He contacted authorities from the gym to ask them to conduct a welfare check. When he met deputies to unlock the door at the house, authorities found the body of his wife Yuanhua Liang in the living room.

Police records indicate investigators believe Collins “murdered his wife with a firearm, then went to great lengths to make it look like she was killed by an intruder,” reported Fox26.

According to KPRC2 News, the couple had financial difficulties and the homeowners association had sued them for non-payment of HOA fees.

Investigators said they found papers signed by the couple on November 16 taking out the life insurance policy. They also told ABC13 they became suspicious about an intruder when they found no signs of forced entry into the home and also found incriminating evidence at the gym where Collins called police.

Police found Liang with a bag over her head and wearing a sleep mask. They believe the items wear placed on her only after she was shot.

Liang is originally from China. The couple had several pets which they cared for.
