Bangladeshi American honored by President Biden

Entrepreneur and real estate investor Shah Haleem became the first Bangladeshi American ever to receive the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, Business America reported.

The award given by President Biden recognizes 4,000 hours of community service.

“I think, it’s not my achievement alone, it’s an achievement of the whole Bangladeshi community. This award gives us the message — how social we are. Our journey in public service will continue,” he said after receiving the award, reported the Daily Star.

Haleem is the former chair of the Bangladesh Association of Houston and is an expatriate from Bangladesh. He also raised funds for the underprivilege in both North America and Bangladesh.

He received a crest, a commemorative coin, and a coat pin along with a certificate signed by President Biden.

“Supporting needy families, working with activist groups including the fight against hate groups and social injustice is a big part of that. This is my personal and social life,” he told Business America.
