This week, Simu Liu joined an extensive list of fellow celebrities as a guest on Hot Ones, a YouTube show that interviews stars from different industries chowing down on progressively spicier chicken wings with host Sean Evans.
The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star and Evans are seen sipping on some boba milk tea, which apparently Liu requested to drink for the show, according to Today.
Watch this hilariously entertaining interview, which Evans jokingly calls “The Legend of the Ten Wings,” from YouTube channel First We Feast:
They touch on various topics, and Evans’ question to Liu about his opinion on short films led to a discussion of Asian Americans in media.
“There are a bunch of Asian American filmmakers, who, you know, at a time when those opportunities didn’t exist in the system, they went out and made their own luck,” Liu noted, specifically pointing to YouTube’s Wong Fu Productions as an example.
“For so many of us, for millions of diasporic Asian youth, that was the only representation we had for a really really long time, so I have all the respect in the world for those guys. I continue to want to work with them and they’re the best.”
