Baby Maeve Sherry is already on autopilot.
His mom Yiran gave birth to her second child in the front seat of a Tesla after dad Keating put the electric car on autopilot mode.
It happened in Chester County near Philadelphia.
The couple told Today the morning started with Yiran’s water breaking. They debated whether to take their son Rafa to school first, before heading to the hospital. They decided there was no time and put Rafa in the back seat as they headed to the maternity ward.
“I figured my responsibility was to get my wife to the hospital safely. She’s having intense contractions, so occasionally I would put the car on autopilot to check on her.”
They made it to the hospital parking lot when she exclaimed “Oh, my God, Keating. She’s out,” Yiran said.
Hospital staff immediately gave Maeve the nickname “Tesla baby.”
A pediatrician happened to be in the parking lot and called for nurses who cut the umbilical cord.
Rafa who at first didn’t quite know what was going on proclaimed “Mommy had an owie, so we went to the hospital and Mommy had a baby.”
“I wouldn’t be too surprised if, in the year 2037, Maeve is getting her permit with that Tesla,” Keating said to People.
