Olympic Gold medalist Suni Lee said on TikTok that she received “so much hate” after she and her boyfriend went public with their relationship, The Independent reports.
The gymnast recently revealed her relationship with University of Southern California football star Jaylin Smith on Instagram. According to Seventeen Magazine, Lee received racist criticism from people in the Asian American community because her boyfriend is black.
TikTok user @alixphom posted a TikTok defending Lee’s relationship. In the video, he is clapping in front of a picture of Lee and Smith.
“I know that Sunisa will be judged by certain eyes in the Hmong Community because her man is Black,” Alix captioned the video. “LOVE is LOVE, no matter what race or gender you are. Keep doing you, QUEEN.”
Lee commented on @alixphom’s video, confirming that she had received hate.
“This makes me so happy. I’ve received so much hate,” she said with a crying emoji. “They support me when it’s beneficial for them, never when it comes to my happiness. Thank you!”

It’s not anti blackness or “love is love “ . Interracial relationships are basis of race . Criticize black men in interracial relationships not anti blackness nor is pointing out their own racism
