Kamala Harris to attend Munich Security Conference

Vice President Kamala Harris will attend the upcoming Munich Security Conference which seeks to deter the potential invasion of Ukraine by Russia, CNN reported.

The vice president’s appearance at the conference is scheduled to take place between Feb. 18-20, according to the New York Post.

She is expected to hold a series of in-person meetings with U.S. allies. Harris will deliver a speech, articulate U.S. policy at multiple public engagements and assert America’s commitment to its NATO allies, reported Reuters

“This trip is about engaging our allies and partners and building upon the intensive engagement that is already under way,” the official said.

Russia has amassed around 100,000 troops near the Ukraine border. Although Moscow has denied invasion claims, Aljazeera reports U.S. officials believe Moscow could attack at any time.

The U.S. is preparing for a potential invasion of Ukraine from Russia although the President spoke about his belief in the possibility of Russia deescalating on Monday.

Around 35 heads of state and government will gather for this conference in its traditional venue in the Bavarian capital.

This trip will be the second time the vice president will visit Europe. It is expected to be her highest-profile trip.
