UPDATE: The boy has been found safe. The AMBER alert has been called off.
Both the California Highway Patrol and 2-year-old Jacob Jardine’s grandmother confirmed to ABC7 News the boy has been found and that the AMBER alert had been called off Sunday night.
Police say thieves stole the vehicle of Jardine’s mother as she unloaded groceries at the Travel Inn in Sunnyvale. The suspects drove off with the two year old still in the vehicle.
Authorities say authorities found the stolen car and the boy approximately four miles from the hotel in Sunnyvale where it was stolen. Police took Jacob to the hospital for possible treatment as a precaution, but say he appeared unharmed.
“Right now, I feel great. I just want to see Jacob,” said a tearful Shawna Theil. “I just want to make sure for myself he’s OK. I want to thank the police department, I want to thank the CHP, I would like to thank the news, and everyone out there that helped us find this baby. I appreciate every single one of you and I promise all of you will be in my prayers tonight.”

The California Highway Patrol earlier Sunday issued an AMBER alert for the 2 year old in five San Francisco Bay Area counties.
Authorities asked residents in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Alameda to be on the lookout for the boy.
Investigators believe that 29-year-old Luong “Tammy” Huynh had information about where Jacob might be. There’s no word if she was found or is she played a role in Jardine’s safe return.
The stolen vehicle has plates from Georgia, a blue baby on board sticker on the rear window, a headlight and tail light out on the left side, and a spare tire on the right front wheel.
Jacob is described as 3′ tall, 25 pounds with red curly hair, brown eyes and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with any information is asked to call 911.
