A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fire that destroyed a Chinese restaurant in Webster, Massachusetts.
A fire began at Wind Tiki in the early morning hours on March 18, NBC 10 reports. The three-alarm fire began around 2 a.m. and was not completely put out until 10 a.m., leaving the restaurant destroyed.
A day after the fire, a break-in was reported at Mexicali Cantina Grill, a restaurant located a block away from Wind Tiki. Some of the surveillance equipment in the restaurant was damaged, but footage showed a man attempting to start a fire in the restaurant, Mass Live reports.
Police later arrested Joel Batista-Viera, 42, who they believe is the man in the video, WCVB reports. They suspect he is responsible for the fire at Wind Tiki and other break-ins in the area.
Batista-Viera is being held on $25,000 cash bail, NBC 10 reports. He is charged with “two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny, one count of burning a building, one count of vandalism, one count of attempting to burn a building and attempting to break and entering.”
