Kenneth Tsang, best known for his role in the James Bond movie Die Another Day, died at the age of 86.
The Hong Kong Hollywood star was found dead in a Covid-19 quarantine hotel on Wednesday, April 27, Hello Magazine reports. The cause of the death has not yet been disclosed.
Tsang had tested negative for Covid-19 earlier this week, according to HITC. He was self-isolating at a hotel in the Tsim Sha Tsui district of Hong Kong in accordance with the latest travel regulations.
“I’m deeply saddened by the news and will miss his laughter and his friendship,” Tsang’s manager, Andrew Ooi, said in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Times. “He was a pioneer and a legend of his time in the golden age of Hong Kong cinema, who broke boundaries with his fearless performances not only there but in Hollywood too. His legacy will live on in the movies he’s made and my heart goes out to his family in this difficult time.”
Tsang’s career spanned over 50 years, starring in movies such as Rush Hour 2, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Replacement Killers.
Hello Magazine reports that it was announced in 2020 that Tsang had been cast in a Hong Kong Love Story, a film that follows tycoon families as they find love in Hong Kong.
Before he stepped into his acting journey, Tsang graduated with a degree in architecture from UC Berkeley, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Tsang is survived by his wife of 28 years, Taiwanese film actor Chiao Chiao, Los Angeles Times reports.
