Sandra Oh is set to star in an adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s short story “Stone Mattress,” The Hollywood Reporter reports.
The Emmy nominated actress will star alongside Julianne Moore in Lynne Ramsay’s adaptation of the short story, W Magazine reports. Oh is coming off of the successful Killing Eve T.V. show, and fans have been eagerly waiting to see what she’ll do next.
According to Deadline, filming will begin in September in Greenland and Iceland, as the story is a thriller set on a cruise ship in the Arctic.
Moore will be playing a twice-widowed, 60-year-old retired physiotherapist named Verna. Verna decides to go on a luxury cruise in the Arctic Northwest Passage where she meets Grace (Oh) and Bob (who has not been casted). Humiliating things from Verna’s past emerge as Bob’s presence troubles her.
Amazon is planning on producing the film. Oscar winning producer John Lesher (Birdman) and Oscar nominee JoAnne Sellar (There Will Be Blood) are also attached.
