Man arrested in Taiwan in $3 million home invasion in SF

Police Friday returned a fugitive from Taiwan accused in a home invasion robbery in San Francisco, reports KTVU.

Investigators say Tianze Zhang, 30, tied up a woman in her home and stole $3 million dollars two months ago. They believed he escaped to Taiwan shortly after the incident.

According to CBS5, investigators in San Francisco worked with the FBI and international law enforcement to track down and arrest Zhang.

He allegedly transferred $3 million dollars from her bank account.

KRON reports Zhang faces charges of felony burglary, felony kidnapping for robbery and felony terrorist threats. Police say Zhang threatened to harm the woman unless she complied.

“She’s really shaken up. Who wouldn’t be?” said Sgt. John Hallisy to KTVU.

Hallisy flew to Taiwan to pick up the suspect.

“It feels good. And the long arm of the San Francisco PD reached across the Pacific Ocean is pretty good too,” he said.
