Sandra Oh and Awkwafina will star in a new Hulu original comedy movie set to premiere sometime in 2023, The Nerds of Color reports.
The new untitled comedy will be directed by Jessica Yu and written by Jen D’Angelo. Production began last week in Los Angeles and filming will continue in LA and New Orleans. According to TV Insider, the film is set to wrap production on July 22.
According to the press release the film is about “a brilliant but tightly wound, game show-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina) and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Oh), who must work together to help cover their mother’s gambling debts. When Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped, they set out on a wild, cross-country trek to get the cash the only way they know how: by turning Anne into a bona-fide game show champion.”
Jason Schwartzman, Holland Taylor, Tony Hale, and Will Ferrell will also star in the comedy. They alongside Jessica Elbaum, Maggie Haskins, Itay Reiss, D’Angelo, Awkwafina, and Oh will be producers in the movie with Alex Brown and Erika Hampson as executive producers.
