Disneyland scrambled Thursday to remove racist and homophobic posts from its Instagram and Facebook accounts, reports Variety.
A hacker who identified himself as David Do took responsibility for the action.
“We worked quickly to remove the reprehensible content, secure our accounts, and our security teams are conducting an investigation,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement.
According to the Insider, Do ranted about being tired of “all these Disney employees mocking him.”
He also claimed to have invented the COVID-19 virus and threatened to release COVID-20.
SiliconValley.com reported the hacker did not make any demands for money. It’s unknown how he gained control of the Disneyland accounts.
Do has put his Instagram account on private. But in the caption it reads “I’m not a super hacker. I’m being framed by people who think I have a laptop that they want to steal. Just wait, The truth shall set you free.”
He has 289 followers and has 179 posts.
Disneyland’s Instagram account has 8.4 million followers and its Facebook account has more than twice that many with 17.2 million followers.
