Disney announced recently that Princess Raya from “Raya and the Last Dragon” will join the Disney Princess lineup for World Princess Week 2022.
According to WDWNT, Raya will make her official debut as a Disney Princess at World Princess Week. Raya captured the hearts of Disney fans when “Raya and the Last Dragon” premiered in March 2021. She made her Disney Parks debut at Shanghai Disneyland but has not made her official Disney Princess debut until now, Inside the Magic reports.
The movie has been praised for its Southeast Asian representation but has also been criticized for failing to cast Southeast Asian voices.
Fans are celebrating Raya’s new status on social media.
According to Inside the Magic, it is unclear if Raya will be a permanent fixture at Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Many fans believe she will become a part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
