Police in Philadelphia wants the public’s help in identifying a gunman who shot another man in Chinatown.
ABC6 news reports a group confronted the victim on North 10th Street near Race Street around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Surveillance video shows the argument spilling from the sidewalk into the street.
At one point the victim runs away from the group. That’s when a man pulls out a gun and shoots him. CBS News Philadelphia reports the victim is 52-year-old and is hospitalized in critical condition.
It’s the third violent incident in Philadelphia Chinatown in just a matter of two weeks. However, merchants in the area emphasize this shooting is random.
“To me, it’s an isolated incident. Chinatown is a great neighborhood. We pretty much know each other. It’s a go-to place for food,” business owner Clement Ho said.
However, some fear it’s another setback for the Chinatown community.
“People, in general, are scared in Chinatown just from violence, not just these recent incidents the news has reported, but just the overall anti-Asian hate,” said Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation’s John Chin.
According to Fox29, the group left Ocean Harvest restaurant before the incident.
