Filipino American Remy Martin gets another shot at the NBA

Five months after not being selected in the NBA draft, NCAA champion and Filipino American Remy Martin’s dream remains alive.

The Cleveland Charge selected Martin in the second round of the G League Draft, giving the 6’0″ guard another shot at the NBA, reports KansasCity.com.

Martin played four years at Arizona State before playing a fifth year with the Kansas City Jayhawks and winning the NCAA championship.

The Charge is the G League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Members of the G League are often called up during the season to fill in for injured players.

Many such as Jordan Poole of the Golden State Warriors go on to sign long-term contracts. Just two years out of the G League, Poole signed a 4 year $140 million contract extension just weeks prior to the start of the 22-23 season. He is considered a cornerstone of the Warrior’s future after its trio of Steph Curry, Klay
Thompson and Draymond Green retire or move on to other teams.

Martin’s father is African American and his mother is Filipino American. He holds dual citizenship.
