A man accused of screaming anti-Muslim slurs is suspected of stabbing a woman and a Good Samaritan in New York’s Union Square Subway Station, reports 1010 WINS.
Police say he slashed her across the cheek and when a man tried to intervene, he put him in a headlock before slashing him too.
According to the New York Post, the woman had just rejected the man’s advances before he attacked her.
Both victims are in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital. The suspect escaped the scene and has not been identified.
The New York Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating this as a hate crime.
It was the second attack in 30 minutes Tuesday night on the subway. A suspect is accused of stabbing his victim twice after he had asked for a cigarette and then attempted to rob him.
The confrontation started on the train and then spilled onto the platform. The suspect stabbed the man again before running off. The injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
