Former President Barack Obama has named books by Ed Yong and Jessamine Chan to his best of 2022 list.
For the past few years, Obama has released a list of his favorite books, movies and music at the end of the year. This year “An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us” by Yong and “The School for Good Mothers” by Chan made the former president’s list of favorite books.
Yong’s book discusses how different animals and insects perceive the world. It is a finalist for the Andrew Carnegie Medal and the Kirkus Prize. Chan’s book is a dystopian novel that follows a mother who is sent to an experimental rehab facility for mothers who have sometimes committed the most minor parenting mistakes.
Chan called making the list “the best Christmas present of all time.”
