Daniel Dae Kim is set to star in a new Amazon series called “Butterfly.” According to Variety, who first reported the news, the series is a “character-driven spy thriller.”
The show will follow David Jung (Kim) a U.S. intelligence agent living in South Korea. Jung’s past suddenly comes back to haunt him and he finds himself being hunted by a killer named Rebecca.
Kim will produce the show through his production company 3AD, TV Line reoprts. Ken Woodruff (The Mentalist) and novelist Steph Cha are the co-creators of the series.
“Ken and Steph have come up with a compelling series with truly unique characters, and having it be an international story set in Korea makes it even more meaningful to me,” Kim said in a statement, according to Variety. “We’ve assembled a stellar creative team, and 3AD is proud to have this be its inaugural effort with Amazon Studios.”
The series will also film in South Korea and feature dialogue in both English and Korean.
