An Asian American woman has been left paralyzed after a robbery in Houston, FOX 26 reports.
Police say that a man in his early 20s attacked Nhung Truong, 44, after following her for 24 miles from a Bank of America where she had withdrawn money. The suspect allegedly followed Truong from the bank on Blackhawk Blvd near the Beltway to a shopping center on the 9800 block of Bellaire.
According to the Daily Mail, surveillance footage shows the man wrap Truong in a bear hug, forcing her to drop her belongings. He then body slams her to the ground, an action that has left Truong with a significant spinal cord injury. He is believed to have stolen around $4,300 worth of things.
FOX 26 reports that Truong is now paralyzed and unable to walk or use the bathroom by herself. She is a single mother who must now rely on help from her three children who are 13, 15, and 20-years-old.
“I’m feeling very horrible and sad at the same time,” Truong told FOX 26.
