David Suzuki recently announced that he would no longer be hosting The Nature of Things, a Canadian television documentary series that focuses on different aspects of science.
The 87-year-old was born in 1936 in Vancouver. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology (1958) at Amherst College and a Ph.D. in zoology (1961) at the University of Chicago.
Suzuki, known for his environmental activism, began hosting the show in 1979. Last week, he posted a video announcing that his last episode with the show would air on April 7. In the video, he thanked the people behind the cameras who work hard to create the series.
“And of course, what made it all possible is you, the viewing public! Without you, believe me, The Nature of Things, however good a program, would have been dumped a long time ago,” he added, thanking the viewers.
