Filipino American NBA coach Erik Spoelstra has advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals with the Miami Heat.
The Heat faced the New York Knicks in a best-of-7 semifinals series. They advanced on Friday night with a thrilling 96-92 victory over the Knicks, ultimately winning the series 4-2.
According to a tweet from CBS Sports, Spoelstra is now one of four coaches with seven or more Conference Final appearances. Spoelstra reached those seven appearances in just 13 years.
Sports pundits and fans have praised Spoelstra for the Heat’s 2023 playoff run. Former play and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins tweeted that he was “probably the Best Coach in basketball.”
Naveen Ganglani- a freelance NBA writer, podcaster and broadcaster- said Spoelstra “should be Miami’s biggest selling point with future stars.”
