Netflix film ‘Nimona’ features voice acting from AAPI Youtuber

Nimona, a film based on the graphic novel of the same name by ND Stevenson, is now streaming on Netflix. Eugene Lee Yang voices Ambrosius Goldenloin, the champion knight of the Institution.

Yang has worn many hats throughout his career. He is best known for being a part of the Youtube group ‘The Try Guys.’ His formal coming-out video in 2019 helped many young queer fans who watched his content.

Yang has spent several years developing his own personal projects. He is working on his own graphic novel that is set to come out in the Spring of 2024. He can now add voice acting to his impressive resume.

Netflix released the following synopsis of ‘Nimona:’

“When knight-in-training Ballister Boldheart is framed for a horrible crime, he’s forced on the run from his own comrades, and into the company of a chaotic shapeshifter named Nimona, who might just be the very creature he was trained to destroy. Together, the unlikely duo will have to prove Ballister’s innocence — and maybe learn a little bit about each other along the way.”

Yang’s character is also Ballister’s boyfriend. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s queer AAPI love story is essential to its main plot.
