Jordan Clarkson to sign 3-year $55M extension with Utah Jazz

Filipino American professional basketball player Jordan Clarkson is set to sign a 3-year $55 million extension with the Utah Jazz.

News of the deal was first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The 31-year-old shooting guard played college basketball for the University of Tulsa and the University of Minnesota. He was drafted by the Washington Wizards in 2014 but traded to the Los Angeles Lakers shortly after.

Clarkson has been with the Jazz since 2019. He was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2021, it is an award that is given to the most valuable player off the bench.

According to Yahoo Sports, Clarkson chose to pick up his $14.3 million player option earlier this week which help set talks for his extension in motion. He is reportedly a favorite of the Jazz’s owner Ryan Smith.

ESPN describes Clarkson as a “three-level scorer.” An ESPN article reported that NBA.com statistics showed that Clarkson shot nearly 70% within 3 feet of the rim.
