Japanese diplomat shoved to the ground by anti-Asian attacker

Yoshioka Yuzo, the consul general for Portland’s Consular Office of Japan, was walking near Southwest Park Avenue when he was jumped and shoved to the ground.

Oregon Live reports that he struck his head on the pavement and sustained a cut before being transported to a hospital. A Portland police officer informed Fox 12 that Yuzo said his attacker had “pushed him down unprovoked” and observed that there was “a lot of blood running down the back of the victim.”

The attacker was identified as Arissa Jean Minyonne Robinson, a homeless woman in the early twenties. Court records indicate that this latest incident is part of a “broader pattern” of attacks Robinson has committed against Asian people, according to NBC KGW.

Back in 2021, she allegedly targeted a mother and her baby in Chinatown, kicking over the baby’s stroller and later showing no remorse when she told the police that she “meant to do it.”

In 2022, Robinson assaulted an Asian senior by hitting him in the head and placing him in a chokehold.

Robinson has been charged with fourth-degree assault and felony bias crime for the attack against Yuzo. She is also being charged with the strangulation of the Asian man in 2022.

Despite the attack, however, Yuzo maintained that he is “glad to be assigned to Portland and haven’t changed [his] good image about Portland despite this incident.”

  1. Why was she not dealt with for the first crime? She’s obviously not well. She should have been in some ward for mentally ill. Oh. My bad. Reagan got rid of them all. Mental health funds cut.
