An Asian American has been arrested for allegedly killing a man during a fight near in the Chinatown neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.
NY Daily News states that the man, identified as Huang Yu Feng, got into a fight around 3:30 a.m. on August 12 on Bayard Street.
The victim was found by police and rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not yet been able to identify the victim as he did not carry an ID
Feng was arrested as a person of interest at the scene. He is being charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
The reason for the fight is currently unknown, according to ABC7.
The New York Police Department reported that Feng was arrested for the first time in 2000 for robbery. He was also twice for criminal possession of a weapon and assault in 2008. In 2009, he served around three months in state prison for second-degree assault.
His most recent conviction was in 2019 for first-degree attempted sexual abuse, where he was released on parole in 2022.
NY Daily News reports the slaying as the third this year in the New York Police Department’s 5th Precinct.
