Filipino American actor Yonas Kibreab is set to star in the upcoming Pixar Movie Elio, Manila Bulletin reports.
The 13-year-old will voice the main character, Elio, who finds himself abducted by aliens into outer space and mistaken as Earth’s ambassador. In the cosmetic universe, Elio must embark on an exciting journey of trials and tribulations to understand who he truly is.
Kibreab’s career kickstarted when the U.S. Tennis Association first noticed the tennis-related videos he and his father made on Instagram and Vine. He then received his first big career opportunity.
“The USTA sent us an email asking me if I wanted to be like a kid-caster at the U.S. Open in New York, which was amazing. And then I got some auditions. I auditioned and I actually got my first role, which was a commercial for a headphone,” he told ABS-CBN News.
Kibreab has also appeared in various television shows, such as “Pupstruction,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Sweet Tooth.”
Elio is slated to release in theaters on March 1, 2024.
