Collin Morikawa is the first player to sign with Los Angeles Golf Club for its TGL golf team.
Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and founding investor of Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), shared a video of himself calling Morikawa to ask him if he wanted to join LAGC.
“Absolutely, I’m in. I just got chills through my body. I don’t think I’ve ever answered a call like this,” Morikawa said in the video.
LAGC is the first team of the TGL, a virtual golf league founded by professional golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The league will feature six teams with four players on each team. Each match will follow a three-on-three format. Rules for the regular season matches and the play-offs have been posted by CBS Sports.
Ohanian formed LAGC with his wife Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams. The club includes other celebrity investors like soccer player Alex Morgan and former professional golfer Michelle Wie West.
