Hawaiian Airlines has first all-Native Hawaiian, all-female pilot crew

Hawaiian Airlines celebrated its first ever all-female, all-Native Hawaiian pilot crew on Friday, The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports.

Pilots Mahina Ma, Kimberly Ha’ole Anderson and Alyssa Kehaulani Jay were the crew for flight HA90 from Honolulu to Boston. All three are part Native Hawaiian and graduates of Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii News Now reports.

According to WWNYTV, Hawaiian Air says nearly 30 percent of their staff identify as Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. Around 10 percent of their pilots are female, which is reportedly the highest percentage in the industry.
